Upgrading the factory bumper on your Jeep Cherokee XJ is a great way to increase the vehicle's departure angles on rough terrain while also improving its overall appearance. OR-Fab's HD bumper, PN 83250, fits 1981 to 2004 model Jeep XJ Cherokees and is manufactured in the U.S.A. from 3/16-inch steel plate.

The bumper is designed to withstand hard bumps and scrapes while also protecting the bottom rear quarter panels of the vehicle. OR-Fab includes . The bumper includes 1/2-inch thick mounting brackets, high-grade hardware, and is easy to install as it replaces the factory bumper with minor modifications.

OR-Fab PN 83250 Rear HD Bumper For Jeep XJ's

Installation begins by unbolting the factory bumper and removing the mounting brackets that attach it to the vehicle's body. The new OR-Fab HD bumper, PN-83250, can be used with or without an aftermarket hitch, but in this case, we removed the hitch as it was not going to be used by the owner.

Because OR-Fab uses heavy-duty brackets to secure the new bumper, a small notch on the rear sheet metal has to be made to accommodate the thicker bracket frame. The instructions indicate where the cut needs to be made.

The brackets are installed with the bumper mounting nuts and hardware supplied in the kit. The bumper is heavy-duty, but it can be lifted into place by a single individual and bolted into position.

Once installed, it's easy to see how the bumper is designed to easily slide off rocks and ledges while protecting the rear quarter panel of the vehicle. A small hitch-mount is also built into the center of the bumper, to allow for an anchor strap to be attached to it.

The bumper also features a heavy-duty wrinkle black powder coat finish and comes with two heavy-duty D-ring mounts and two D-rings in the kit. The accompanying photos below, demonstrate the installation step-by-step.

Jeep XJ Cherokee owners who want to upgrade their vehicle with a recovery winch, have to consider using a bumper that won't allow the winch to block airflow to the engine. But they also want one that can withstand abuse on the trail and clear larger tires. So OR-Fab came up with a front winch-mount bumper that not only has an integral winch-mount, but also features a tapered "V" shaped design that easily slides off rocks and ledges.

The OR-Fab front bumper for 1984 thru 2001model Jeep Cherokee, PN-83241 is manufactured from 3/16-inch thick steel plate, that has been laser cut, CNC press brake bent to precise angles, hand welded, and hand ground to a smooth and perfectly angled finish and quality. The ends of the bumper are tapered to provide clearance for up to 37-inch diameter tires, and the integrated winch-mount works with any remote-style winch. The bumper is then finished in a gloss or wrinkled heavy-duty black powder coat finish.

Installation is simple and begins with selecting the right winch. OR-Fab recommends using a Warn M8000S winch, because it can be operated with a wired remote, and has an 8,000 lbs.-pull capacity. The winch weighs 80-lbs. and it features a 4.8 horsepower motor with a three-stage planetary gear set that provides smooth, fast, and reliable operation. The M8000S also comes with 100-ft of 5/16-inch wire rope, but is also available with Warn's Spydura synthetic rope. The Spydura synthetic rope reduces the winch's weight to 55 lbs, and provides easy handling on the trail for folks with a bit more winching experience.

The installation of the OR-Fab bumper and Warn winch beings with unbolting and removing the factory bumper, bottom air dam, and corner fender cross-braces from the vehicle. Because the OR-Fab bumper is a full-width design, some trimming of the front fenders is required to provide added tire clearance and for proper fitment of the bumper. The instructions give detailed guidelines of where to cut, but essentially, the fender is trimmed following the bottom of the XJ's grille back towards the wheel well. Once al the trimming is done, new OR-Fab mounting brackets are bolted in the factory locations.

Before the bumper can be mounted, the Warn M8000S winch must be assembled and bolted to the OR-Fab bumper. Following Warn's instructions for installing the winch, the supplied nuts and bolts were used to secure the winch to the winch mount. The mounting bracket for the Warn control box normally sits above the winch motor, but in this application, the bracket was modified slightly (trimmed and an additional hole drilled), allowing the control box to sit slightly above the motor for easy access on top of the bumper. Warn also supplies a fairlead and a winch hook for the end of the cable.

Once the winch was mounted into the OR-Fab bumper, it took two people to lift the assembly and secure the bolts onto the Jeep's frame. Warn also supplies large two-gauge battery wire leads that were routed to the XJ's battery, and once attached, the installation was complete. The next step was to wind the Warn Spydura synthetic line onto the winch drum.

The OR-Fab bumper also features two heavy-duty D-ring mounts and comes with two D-rings. While the Warn winch comes with a winch hook, we upgraded to using a Factor-55 winch thimble. Warn also has winch thimbles and other winch accessories that make it easy to properly and safely hook up a winch-line.

Jeep XJ Cherokees have been a popular vehicle for both outdoor enthusiasts, as well as hard-core rock crawlers. For those serious about taking their XJ’s on the trail it’s common to replace the XJ’s front bumper with one that can withstand a few impacts, as well as carry a heavy-duty winch. But the rear factory bumper is also a component that can see severe trail damage when coming off a ledge or large rock. Steep departure angles can not only mangle the XJ’s rear bumper, but also cause serious damage to the tailgate and rear quarters.

Because many XJ owners have wanted a strong, yet light weight rear bumper, manufacturers like OR-Fab have come up with a tubular-style bumper that provides the added trail protection XJ owners want, but without adding lots of weight or bulk. OR-Fab’s XJ rear tube bumper, PN-83209, is made from two-inch, .120-wall steel tubing that is strong enough to protect the bottom of the rear rocker panel and tailgate. But because it is also a wrap-around design, it also protects the lower quarters and offers a sturdy platform for recovery and placement for a Hi-Lift Jack.

The bumper installs in the factory location, using the original bumper holes and new heavy-duty bumper brackets. On some XJs that don’t use the same bumper mount brackets as earlier models, you’ll need to drill 1/2-inch holes to attach the OR-Fab brackets. These models typically have bottom bolts and top bolts that secure the bumper to the uni-frame. To give additional support to the OR-Fab bumper, the kit comes with 1/4-inch straps that anchor it to the hitch mount. This ensures a solid connection that won’t vibrate or distort under load.

Once installed, you can see that the OR-Fab bumper tucks in close to the XJ’s body and protects the bottom rear quarters. The bumper was originally designed to be used with a factory hitch but it can be used with aftermarket hitches with some minor modifications. Jeep owners know that their vehicles are more than a means of transportation. That’s why older Jeeps like the XJ Cherokee, are as popular as some sixties muscle cars. The difference however, is that Jeep XJ owners aren’t afraid to get their vehicles dirty. That's why you often see them modified for extreme trail use. This is one of the reasons why Chris Faustmann, who manages the research and development for Performance Automotive Group, bought and built-up a 1996 Jeep Cherokee that would be used as both a test bed for the company's new product development, as well as a means to satisfy Faustmann’s love for rock crawling with his favorite model Jeep.
To begin with, the XJ was outfitted with the company’s OR-Fab line of products that include a new front winch mount HD bumper, and a new rear “comp cut” bumper. The new rear bumper was developed on this Jeep and is much more streamlined with a tapered edge, and designed to easily slip off rocks while protecting the rear hatch and quarters. The Jeep was also outfitted with OR-Fab’s rear quarter panels, as well as a set of custom fabricated rock rails to protect the XJ’s side rockers.

The front suspension system used on the Jeep, is a prototype that Faustmann designed for the company's other brand, Trail Master Suspension. It's a six-inch lift system that features a tri-link long-arm lift and a heavy duty cross member and track bar bracket. There's no telling when or if the new suspension will make it to market, but it appears to work extremely well on the XJ, when it debuted for it's first trail run during the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. To compliment the front, the rear was outfitted with a Rock Krawler four-link coil conversion with RuffStuff chassis stiffeners. Furthermore, to allow the XJ to drive and maneuver smoothly, Faustmann also added a set of 11-inch Fox Racing 2.0 reservoir shocks, a Currie Anti-Rock sway bar system, and PSC hydraulic ram-assist steering .

Front axles are from a 1976 Ford F-150.

The XJ’s drivetrain was totally upgraded to a variety of components that not too many Jeep owners tend to consider. The front axles for example, are out of a 1976 Ford F-150. It’s essentially a Dana 44 high-pinion housing that was outfitted with T&T Customs axle truss, an ARB air locker, Warn premium locking hubs, and Superior 30-spline Evolution axles with 5:13 ring and pinion gears. The Ford front axle is connected to REID Racing forged steering knuckles and Artec Industries forged steering arms, which all match up great to the XJ’s body and chassis.

With a front drivetrain that’s much stronger than the factory XJ axles and steering, Faustmann also did the same with the rear by installing a Ford 9-inch out of a 1979 F-150 pickup. The housing was modified with an RK Heavy Duty welded truss system, 35-spline Superior Evolution axles and gears, a Detroit locker, and a rear disc brake conversion that was compiled from GM 3/4-ton truck parts and Ruff Stuff Specialties caliper brackets. The original transfer case was also upgraded with an Atlas two-speed unit and new heavy duty, 1310 steel driveshafts from Tom Woods Custom Driveshafts.

Rear Ford 9-inch came out of a 1979 F-150 pickup.

Under the hood, Faustmann added an ATK Performance 4.0 liter engine and outfitted it with an S&S Custom exhaust system. The engine transfers its torque to a rebuilt Jeep AW4 automatic transmission, before it applies the power to the set of Goodyear 315/70R17 MT/R Kevlar tires mounted on Trail Ready 17x8.5 beadlock wheels.

Just in case the XJ ever gets into a precarious situation, the Warn M8000 winch, with Spyder Line synthetic cable running through a Hawse billet fairlead, provides an excellent means for recovery. Extra trail gear can be carried on the Gobi Stealth roof rack, and a set of Rigid Industries LED lights and light bar help to illuminate the way once the sun sets. The overall exterior of the XJ looks like it’s ready to take on any challenge, but the interior didn’t need to change much, with the only upgrade being a set of front black, Corbeau Baja XR-S seats.

Corbeau seats fit nicely in the XJ.

Needless to say, this Jeep gets lots of looks when it’s both on the highway and the trail. But aside from the American Rock Rod hood lovers and the bright red paint, the XJ is impressive for its engineering savvy and use of non–traditional components. This has many Jeep owners crawling in and underneath the vehicle to check out how the Cherokee was constructed.

Considering that Jeep is now owned by Fiat, who also owns Ferarri, it gave Faustmann the idea to consider a whimsical nomenclature to the Cherokee. While Jeep did build a Ferrari styled version of the SRT8 Grand Cherokee, Faustmann new that his vehicle wasn’t truly Italian influenced, so it was dubbed the “Ferrarjeep.” More than anything, this Jeep Cherokee has stirred the imagination of many enthusiasts who have renewed their love for the Cherokee, and are now inspired to build and drive this vehicle on the trail once again.
BC4x4.com, one of Canada's most popular off-road websites, published an article on their website that shows the installation of a set of OR-Fab Rock Sliders and Rear Quarter Body Armor for the site's Project XJ Jeep. The OR-Fab Rock Sliders (PN-84460) feature 1 ¾-inch diameter rails that are made from .120 wall steel tube. Designed from experience and testing on the trail, these rock slider rails feature an additional 3/16-inch steel-plate gusset that ties the rail together, allowing Cherokee owners to take on the most extreme trails with confidence.

The OR-Fab XJ Rear Quarter panels are made from 3/16-inch steel plate and easily attache to the rear factory quarter panels with stainless steel hardware. The BC4x4 Jeep XJ had some modifications to the rear wheel-wells which required some modifications to the panels, but they showed how the panels were modified for their particular application. OR-Fab's XJ body armor protects your Jeep from damage on the trail and enhances the vehicle’s appearance. The armor is available with (PN-84450) or without (PN-84400) a 1.5-inch diameter rail-bar that’s made from .120 wall steel tubing. BC4x4 installed the armor with the 1.5-inch rail bar. To read the install article on BC4x4 click here.

According to the Specialty Equipment Market Association, the Jeep JK Wrangler is one of the most upgraded vehicles. With an abundance of front winch bumpers, suspension lift kits, rear spare tire carriers, wheels, tires, soft-tops, engine upgrades and more, there seems to be no end to the amount of modifications that can be done to these vehicles. If you're not ready to spend several hundred dollars on your Jeep just yet, here are some less expensive alternatives that can not only give your Jeep Wrangler a few more looks, but also help it perform and work better in both an urban and back-country trail environments.

Rock Door Mirror Brackets

Adding a set of rock-doors to your Jeep makes it easy to see how you maneuver over rocks and ledges on the trail and give you an open-air feeling. But once you get from the trail back onto the highway, you're missing the rear view mirrors for safety. OR-Fab's mirror relocation brackets allow you to easily attach your JK Wrangler's side mirrors onto a set of your OR-Fab Rock Doors. The brackets simply bolt-on and don't require any drilling. They're also made from 10-gauge steel and are strong enough to withstand normal trail abuse.

Tailgate Vent Cap

Many Jeep owners use an aftermarket spare tire carrier that swings away to easily access the rear tailgate. Most Jeep owners are proud of this upgrade, until they swing the tire away and see an ugly, plastic tailgate vent plate. OR-Fab makes a great looking steel, tailgate vent plate that features the OR-Fab logo and gecko. It comes in a wrinkle or gloss black powdercoat finish and will save you from embarrassment the next time you swing away your spare tire to get you kid's juice boxes in the back.

License Plate Bracket

So you finally added that rear quarter panel armor and love how your Jeep JK looks. But you're stuck trying to find out where to mount the license plate. OR-Fab's license plate bracket allows you to easily mount the plate over the vehicle's tailgate vent plate. The bracket installs without drilling into the vehicle and bolts into the the factory vent plate holes. The plate is strong and can also hold a RotopaX PM mount for a single Rotopax three-gallon capacity container.

One-Inch Body Lift

Jeep JK Wranglers were meant to crawl, not carry lots of weight. But if you've outfitted yours with a heavy-duty front bumper, a big winch, rear spare tire carrier and gear for the weekend, you may find that your ground clearance is a bit lower. For decades, avid Jeep enthusiasts have used a simple one-inch body-lift to make up for the extra ground clearance. The body-lift kits, like those from Performance Accessories, cost less than $100 bucks and use nylon-reinforced body blocks that provide the right amount of absorption and strength to make them completely reliable.

Quick Disconnect Anti-Sway Bar End Links

You don't have to envy other Jeep owners who opted for the electronic sway-bar disconnect system. Manufacturers such as Performance Accessories offer a kit that includes a front coil spring leveling kit with quick disconnect front sway-bar end links. The kit is easy to install and costs about $120. For a stock or body-lifted Jeep JK Wrangler, the added lift can compensate for a heavy front winch, while the quick disconnect end links allow the suspension to articulate to it's maximum potential. Plus you can snicker at your friends because you saved hundreds of dollars in the process.

Windshield Light Mount System

You bought a cool set of off-road lights but the light mounting bolts don't match up to the per-drilled holes on your front bumper. Instead of drilling or switching to smaller lights that will fit, a windshield light mount kit is a better idea. Manufacturers like OR-Fab have an light mount system that attaches to the windshield pillars using the factory holes and bolts. No drilling is necessary. Furthermore, there's plenty of room at the top of the mount to add any size round, square or LED light bars that you want without modifications or re-drilling any holes. In addition, the higher mounted lights will illuminate further out in front of your vehicle and allow you to see the trail much better when the sun goes down.
Jeep JK Wrangler owners, who have equipped their vehicles with rear quarter armor, can easily relocate the license plate to the tailgate with OR-Fab’s license plate mount, PN-87037. The mount is a unique solution that simply installs using the vehicle’s factory tailgate vent cover bolts. This laser-cut steel bracket is sturdy enough that it can also be used to mount a single RotopaX PM mount with RX 3G fuel can. Both license plate and the RotopaX mounting hole locations are pre-measured, so there’s no chance of making a mistake while drilling.
OR-Fab developed a new, heavy duty rear bumper for 1984-2001 model Jeep Cherokee XJ’s. The bumper, PN-83245 features a slim, tapered-edge design that easily slides off rocks and provides greater departure angle clearance. This full-width bumper extends to protect the underside of the rear quarters, and requires cutting and removing sections of the quarters for proper installation. The OR-Fab XJ rear bumper attaches to the OEM bumper and hitch mounts with formed brackets, and 1/4-inch anchor straps for superior mounting strength.

Manufactured from 3/16-inch steel plate, the bumper is precision laser cut and CNC press brake formed. It also features two reinforced D-ring mounts and a light-duty rear slider hitch mount to attach accessories, (not rated for towing). The OR-Fab Jeep XJ HD Rear Bumper comes with all of the necessary hardware for installation, and includes two heavy-duty D-Ring shackles. OR-Fab’s bumpers are manufactured in the U.S.A and come in either a wrinkle or gloss black powdercoat finish. For more information contact, Performance Automotive Group, P.O.

OR-Fab’s new heavy duty Jeep XJ front bumper was inspired by Cherokee owners who wanted strong trail protection that would also enhance the vehicle’s appearance. The bumper is manufactured from 3/16-inch steel plate that is precision laser cut and CNC press brake formed to create a tapered-angle design. The V-shape gives the vehicle greater approach angles, even with 37-inch diameter tires.

The new bumper comes in two styles. OR-Fab PN 83240 features a 2.5-inch diameter steel grille guard with light mount tabs. OR-Fab PN 83241 comes without the grille guard. Both fit 1984-2001 model Jeep Cherokee XJ’s and attach onto the factory bumper location with minimal cutting of the stock front fenders. The slim design increases airflow to the front of the grille and the integrated winch mount is designed to fit an 8,000 lbs. remote style winch. Some 9,500 lbs. remote style winches will fit with minor modifications to the Jeep’s core support for added clearance.

OR-Fab unveiled its new line of full-width bumpers for the Jeep JK Wrangler, at the 2012 Easter Jeep Safari held in Moab, Utah, April 1-6th. The show, which brings out thousands of hardcore Jeep owners who spend the week crawling among the area's toughest and most beautiful trails, was the perfect venue to announce the company's new line of bumpers that are manufactured from 3/16-inch thick steel plate and provide greater protection during extreme approach angles.

OR-Fab's full-width bumpers are available in a variety of designs that come with a 2.5-inch diameter steel grill guard hoop, various OEM and aftermarket lighting options, and boxed-in sides that end at the inside edge of the Jeep's fenders (mid-width), or extend all the way to the outer fender-edge (full-width) for greater protection and an aggressive appearance. While the added width provides the additional trail protection that Jeep JK Wrangler owners have asked for, the size, shape and function of the OR-Fab full-width bumpers isn't bulky, overly heavy and won't limit your ability to take on steep approach angles.

The bumpers can be used with up to 37-inch diameter tires and the tapered edge and bottom allows it to easily slide off rocks and ledges. Precision laser cut, and CNC press brake formed, the OR-Fab full-width bumpers easily fit onto the factory bumper locations with new hardware that's provided in the kit. No cutting, drilling, welding or enlarging of bolt holes are necessary. The bumpers can also be used with standard or offset winch designs and feature two heavy-duty D-ring mounts and D-rings.

The OR-Fab full width bumpers fit 2007 to 2012 model Jeep JK Wranglers, and are available in a wrinkle or gloss black powder coat finish. All of OR-Fab products are made in the U.S.A. For more information, visit www.ORFab.com.

One of the most vulnerable areas on your 2007-present model Jeep Wrangler, is the lower rocker panels. During extreme off-road rock crawling, even on moderate trails, the lower rockers can make contact with large rocks and ledges that can scrape and severely dent the sheet metal. Rock slider bars work great to protect the rocker panels from underneath, but to little to protect the area below the the vehicle's doors. This area can also get scratched and dented from obstacles on the trail and from people entering and exiting the vehicle.

To protect this area on Jeep Wranglers, OR-Fab manufactures side rocker armor that is available for both two-door (PN 84310) and four-door (PN 84320) applications. The armor is precision laser cut from 3/16th -inch steel plate, for a perfect fit, and features an extremely durable black powder coat, that's available in a gloss or matte-wrinkle finish. Aside from adding more protection to the side rockers, the armor also enhances the vehicle's appearance, while strengthening the door frames during extreme articulation maneuvers.

The armor is easy to install and comes with all of the necessary hardware, including stainless steel button-head bolts, a rivet nut tool and rivet nuts. (See the install photos below). OR-Fab also recommends using the company's synthetic rubber armor liners, PN 87310 (2dr) and PN 87320 (4dr), that sandwich between the steel plate armor and the vehicle's outer sheet metal to prevent dust and moisture from getting trapped in-between.

Using the body armor as a template and holding it in position, the holes are marked onto the Jeep. The directions call for drilling 5/16th-inch holes closest to the front of the vehicle, and 3/8-inch holes in the rest of the areas. The rivet nuts are inserted into the holes and the rivet nut tool provided in the kit, is used to crimp them into position.

If you're using OR-Fab's synthetic liner, this goes on like a gasket, and can be inserted with the side armor. Some bolts are installed directly into the rivet nuts, while other areas, such as behind the fender, require using a bolt, nut and washer. You may need to unbolt the bottom of the fender and pull it away to gain access to the rear of the panel, but it's not difficult to accomplish.

Once all the bolts are tightened, the installation is complete. The OR-Fab Side Body Armor can be used with aftermarket or OR-Fab Rock Sliders, (PN 84207 2dr), (PN 84307 4dr). The article shows how the lightweight, tubular steel spare tire carrier is installed, and the advantages it has over other carriers by not being hinged to the bumper.

The use of Rotopax modular canisters has also become popular with Jeep owners, as they save space and weight over older style Gerry cans. The OR-Fab Spare Tire carrier holds two Rotopax canisters, which allows the entire carrier to sit closer an higher on the Jeep's body, to improve departure angle clearance, while also carrying up to a 37-inch diameter spare tire.
Before the Jeep JK four-door Wrangler became available in 2007, Jeep enthusiasts who loved to take on tough trails with family and lots of gear, had no better choice than the Jeep Cherokee. Even though the four-door JK is a very popular model, the XJ Cherokee has seen a resurgence lately, as these vehicles are inexpensive, easy to modify, and offer plenty of off-road capability, especially with the abundance of new components that are now available for this model.

As the popularity for the Jeep XJ increases, off-road enthusiasts are wanting to outfit the vehicles with a variety of components that will increase ride height, improve articulation over obstacles, and provide lots of body protection. Here are some of the essential items that avid Jeep XJ owners are installing on these vehicles to make them more off-road capable.

Increasing Ground Clearance With A Suspension Lift

Trail Master's Jeep XJ lift kit PN J4270SSV

One of the first things is to increase the XJ's ride height for improved articulation, traction, and to install larger diameter tires. There's an abundance of custom lift kits available that can adapt a coil-over system, or longer control arms. But if you're just starting out, it's best to start with something that works without lots of cutting and welding. A suspension system like Trail Master's 4-inch lift kit (J4270SSV) works with the factory suspension and raises the vehicle with new front coil and rear leaf springs. This system also has heavy-duty control arms with Flex-joints, that provide extra strength during extreme articulation, and quick-disconnect sway-bar end links make it easy to switch from the trail to the highway. A system like this also includes a new drop Pitman arm, an adjustable track bar, and a transfer case drop bracket to ensure the drive line and suspension joints won't receive excessive wear.

When Just A Little Lift Will Do

3" Body Lift Kit For '75-'82 early Cherokees

If you want to start off without making major changes to your Cherokee's OEM suspension system,or you don't yet have the budget for a full suspension lift, then consider a three-inch body lift. Body lifts are only available for the early model '75-'82 model Jeep Cherokees. They are very inexpensive and provide enough ride height to add larger diameter tires, without affecting the factory ride. A body lift like one from Performance Accessories, comes with high-grade, nylon-reinforced body mounts, heavy-duty hardware and is easy to install. They are much better and safer than home-made body lift kits that are not nearly as reliable and aren't designed with the 30-years of experience that Performance Accessories has. You can also get urethane wheel well extensions called Gap Guards, that hide the space that becomes visible between the body and the frame. If you're on a budget, this is the way to go to get the ride height and tires you want on the vehicle.

Protection That Can Pull You Out Of A Mess

No self respecting Jeep XJ owner heads off onto the trail without a winch and some front-end protection. Fortunately there are several aftermarket bumpers that protect your Cherokee's front end, and provides a mounting point for a heavy-duty winch. A lightweight bumper, like OR-Fab's three-piece winch bumper, is made from 3/4-inch diameter, .120 wall tube so it's incredibly strong. It's lightweight design can clear up to 37-inch tall tires, and it also provides 16 mounting points for high-stress winch pulls.

Watch Your Rear
Steep departure angles can destroy your Cherokee's bumper, as well as mess up the tailgate alignment and sheet metal. So XJ owners always toss the factory bumper for a lightweight design like OR-Fab's rear tube bumper. Made from two-inch, .120-wall tubing, the bumper wraps around the body to protect the rear lower quarter panels from damage. It also comes with two heavy-duty D-ring mounts and D-rings.

Save Those Quarters

The bad thing about taking a Cherokee on the trail, is that the rear quarter panel sheet metal can easily get damaged. Because no one likes to drive around with wrinkled sheet metal, manufacturers like OR-Fab make rear quarter armor for these vehicles, that protects the area, as well as the factory rear taillights. The armor is manufactured from 3/16-inch steel plate and is available with a 1.5-inch diameter rail bar. The armor also works with factory or aftermarket fenders.

Of course, there are many more accessories available for the Jeep XJ that allow you to customize it any way you like. These are just several products that serious rock crawlers use to protect and improve the vehicle's off-road capabilities.
